HL2 Orange Box skin mod doesn't work

please help :(

By badboy_zay 2 years ago

Hello. I had an original HL2 CD version long time ago and it's always work when I install my texture mod. but that version is really old now and i prefer to get HL2 from Orange Box engine since graphic is much better. I bought Orange Box 3DVD non-steam version in my local store and installed HL2 from the first DVD. But somehow whenever I install any texture/models mod for HL2 Orange Box,it didn't work. I knew how to install mod and I have put the materials and models folder from my mod to the correct folder as in HL2 Orange box version. But it didn't work. Can someone help me solve this problem please. is there anything I need to do or I just do something wrong? sorry for my bad English

I don't know if he have any idea there is a DVD version or not. but judge people without any thinking is not a good way as the rule said "be polite & respectful". I have bought it as pre order from store and lost bunch of money. I don't want get any games from Steam because Steam is really annoying with my computer since it slow down both of my CPU usage and internet connection. I would appreciate if you could help. Not talk about this is bootleg or something. Not sure if I'm gonna need SDK or something, but I hope someone had solved it.

    huh???

Yes, there might be non-steam versions of the game, but ever since some time ago, they were converted into steam versions; the only way to not have it be non-steam is to install it off-line.

If I'm wrong, it means there's no such thing as a non-steam version, and this would be in violation of rule 1.4.
There's also no explicit mention of "politeness/respect" in da rules, but let's all agree here we're civilized human beings.

There is no such thing as a legal retail copy of the Orange Box that doesn't come bundled with and doesn't require Steam to run. This has been the case for every Valve game since and including Half-Life 2, when Steam had it's debut. Older Valve games could have their CD key activated in Steam to download their latest versions.

We're doing none of the sorts; we only tell you that if you play Half-Life 2 without steam, you're doing it wrong.
