Custom sounds in HL2 (mapping)

How do I add them

I placed some ambient sounds I wanted in the HL2 sound folder (in a custom folder) and they didn't appear in the sound browser in source? Is it possible to add custom sounds like that in source or is there a more complicated way of doing it? I will give 5 points to the first person who answers.

    You probably need to switch the sound listing to 'Raw' to view the files themselves.
